LA PERLE DES DIEUX

Since 1887, 4 generations of the Gendreau family have succeeded one another in offering exceptional products that embody the know-how of La Perle des Dieux. Their artisanal know-how has remained unchanged since the beginning. The gestures have been borrowed for generations according to an ancestral method in the last Vendée cannery in Saint-Gilles-Croix-de-Vie labeled Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant (a label that distinguishes French companies with excellent artisanal know-how). La Perle des Dieux perpetuates the sardine tradition and continues to sort, cut, store, and gut all the fish by hand before boxing them by hand.

Quality is at the heart of their concerns. Their sardines are caught locally at the best time of the season on the coasts of Saint-Gilles-Croix-de-Vie and its region recognized as Intangible Cultural Heritage of France since 2018. Choosing a specific location and fishing in the middle of summer guarantees them an exceptional product that is fresh and ripe. Canned less than two kilometers from the port labeled "Site Remarquable du Goût", their iodized flavors are canned fresh. All the conditions are then met to offer a melting and tasty fish.
